3. How We Use Information
We use this information to:
- Provide homework feedback through AI models.
- Create a private portfolio of your child's work.
- Allow invited users to view or upload homework.
- Improve our services (using anonymous, aggregated data).
- Process payments through Stripe (when applicable).
We do not sell your personal information.
4. AI Providers
- We use OpenAI (and may use Anthropic or Google in the future).
- All homework sent to these models uses zero data retention endpoints, so providers do not keep your child's data.
5. Hosting & Security
We host on AWS + Supabase.
Security measures include:
- TLS encryption (in transit)
- AES-256 encryption (at rest)
- JWT-based authentication with OAuth2/SSO
- Row-level security policies
- Audit logging
6. Data Sharing
We only share data with:
- Service providers (e.g., hosting, AI vendors, analytics, payments).
- Invited users you designate (who can view and upload work).
Invited users cannot invite others.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
- If you delete your account, all child data is deleted immediately.
- We may retain minimal billing records (if payments were made) as required by law.
8. Children's Privacy
- Parents create and control accounts.
- Children cannot create their own accounts directly.
- Because parents control access, Checkmate is not directed to children under 13 for independent sign-up.
9. State Privacy Rights
We honor privacy rights under California law (CCPA/CPRA) and other state laws. This means you may request:
- Access to your data.
- Correction of inaccurate data.

Requests can be sent to privacy@checkmate.school.
10. Changes to this Policy
